Week #3 Update

No pictures this week. I did try some new things though including some steamed rice-flour dumplings with a sticky soy-sauce sauce. I'm not a big fan of how the texture and I don't know if I'll be eating them in the future, but it was interesting to try.

This week I need to make another big batch of sunomono and I'm going to try out making tsukune (basically little oval meat dumplings in a soup base).

I am down .8lbs to 223. It's progress at least. I haven't been exercising much other than a few walks of 2-3 miles each. I'm going to step that up next week and try to get at least a 3 mile walk in every day now that the weather is nicer. I'm down almost 3lbs in 3 weeks, so it could be worse. It'll take about 2 years to lose all I need to lose at this rate, however, so definitely need to step up. On the other hand, I'm learning to make some pretty delicious food, so that's good :)

Week #2 (late) Update

I ended out week #2 with .2lbs down at 223.8. Not the best progress ever, but I'm cutting pocky and mochi icecream out from now on since I can't seem to stop eating it.

Here's pics of various things I made during the week:
Photobucket
This is the oyakodon (parent and child bowl). I've been making this almost every night. It's so delicious. I should probably add veggies to it, but onions count, right?

Photobucket
And this is the wafuu (curry) that I made. I used sweet potatoes and parsnip to replace regular potato and carrots, and I had no actual curry spice, so I just mixed a version of my own. It was a lot of work, but very tasty and fed both of us for two full dinners.

I'll update more on Friday.

Week 1 Update

Today I ate:

Two pork buns: 360 cals
Bowl of rice w/sesame and nori: 250 cals
Oyakodon: 500 cals
Pocki: 90 cals
Mochi: 300 cals
Total: 1500

My weight at the end of week one was 224.0. So down 1.6lbs. Not bad, but I can do better.

I got my teapot with infuser finally, so I can make genmai-cha to my heart's content. I drank four large cups of it today. So delicious.

I am planning on making Wafuu (curry) on Saturday night and sushi again on Sunday. I need to step up the exercise as well and plan to start walking 2-4 miles a day, everyday as well as doing my kettlebell exercises 3x a week.

I'll try to take more pictures this weekend. That's all for now.

Update Schedule

Daily updates were starting to drag on me, so I think I'll be doing Friday updates plus maybe Sushi Sunday ones (with pics!). I'll just post my food and such at the end of the week when I update my stats.

Meanwhile, back to making chocolate mochi. I should have pictures :)

Food for 3/21/11

No pictures today. My camera didn't get a good one of the Oyakodon and the rest of my food today was pretty darn boring or I've already posted a picture of it in an earlier post. (I'm also not keeping calorie count on weekends.)

Here's the count:

Breakfast: HUGE mug of tea and a pork steamed bun- 180 cals
Lunch: cup of rice with sesame seeds, chopped pickled ginger, and soy sauce- 250 cals
Snack: pocky- 150 cals
Dinner: Oyakodon - 500 cals
Dessert: chocolate mochi icecream- 100 cals
Total cals for day: 1180

Tomorrow I'm planning on making sunomono and yakisoba stir fry. And of course, more rice! My tea pot should be here soon, and then I can have a large pot of tea ready at all times. I'm looking forward to that (and getting to make loose-leaf teas).

Sunday Sushi

So today I made sushi for the first time. The rice came out pretty well, but I think I'll use slightly more vinegar next time since it was a tiny bit too sticky I think.

I made tempura as well with asparagus and sweet potato. It was delicious, but a lot of work (and probably not totally healthy, seeing as it is fried).

Here are the pictures:

That's the sushi- cucumber rolls and tempura asparagus rolls.

That's the tempura.

And there is the whole meal.

It was delicious (the two of us couldn't finish everything, so we saved some for later).

Friday 3/18/11

Here is my food and exercise for the day.

Breakfast was two delicious pork steam buns and a large cup of vanilla cinnamon black tea. 360 calories total.
Photobucket

Lunch was three onigiri and a box of rice candy (I have a huge sweet tooth). 320 calories.
Photobucket

Snack was another box of rice candy and a cup of miso soup for 170 more calories.
(there's no pic of this, it was a mug of soup and a box of candy...)

Dinner was one of my recipe experiments with lamb, beef, and udon noodles in a broth with dark soysauce. I'm estimating this at 550 calories since the meat was really thin sliced. I also had a glass of sugar-free green tea.
Photobucket

Dessert was sliced pears with honey drizzled on them. ~200 calories (I didn't eat this whole plate, my husband had a lot of it).
Photobucket

I drink a lot of tea, so I don't really count it (I take my tea plain or with a little splenda). I'll probably have more tea tonight, but over all I feel good about today and cooking was fun! Total calories was around 1600. I also did 60 kettlebell swings, some ab work, and walked about half a mile.

Tomorrow will be my first attempt at making sushi rice. Doom!

In the Beginning

Caveat: this blog is somewhat a joke. Please don't take this as dieting advice or a good way to lose weight or be healthy. I have zero qualifications beyond being an obsessive, crazy person who reads a lot and happens to love anime.

That said, here's the plan :)

I used to look somewhat like this:

And now, after four years of falling back into my binge-eating disorder, I look more like this:

Photobucket

I'd like to get back to looking more like this:

Photobucket

So here's the plan:
I'm calling it the Anime Body Project for a reason. I'm going to eat whatever they eat in anime shows and movies. Yep. That simple. Ramen, sushi, rice porridge, mochi, etc. If it is eaten in an anime, I'm going to eat it. If it isn't, I won't. Simple. Part of this is going to involve me learning to cook new and interesting things and finding the things I like to eat. There's really nothing more to this. I will be hopefully photographing my meals and posting rough calories and such. I'll also be updating my weight weekly (on Fridays) and my measurements monthly. Exercise is whatever I feel like doing, which at the moment is walking at least a little most days a week and doing kettlebell swings and some ab exercises three days a week. I just want my anime body back.

Starting stats:
Height: (this won't change, hopefully!) 5 feet 5 inches
Weight: 225.6
Bust: 48
Waist: 36.5
Hips: 48
R Bicep: 14
R Forearm: 11
R Thigh: 29
R Calf: 16.5

That's the plan, that's the pathetic starting stats (hey, they will only get smaller, right?)
